| Location: | Level 2 Diagnostics Building, off Main Street | The Department of Virology provides a diagnostic service in virology including viral isolation and detection by immunofluorescence, serological testing and molecular detection. A clinical virologist is on-call and available at all times to provide advice about the optimal use of the laboratory tests and to assist with the interpretation of results. Consultation and advice on the management of patient with infections is provided in association with Clinical Infectious Diseases physician on call for consultations. The Virology Department, in conjunction with the Departments of Microbiology, and Infectious Diseases has particular interests in the paediatric and congenital viral infections.
