Counselling for patients, siblings, parents and other family members related to:
- coping with illness, disability or hospitalisation
- loss, grief and bereavement
- the emotional effects of trauma
- stress associated with parenting.
Advice, information and referral to community support services.
Provision of volunteer carers for unaccompanied children in hospital through the Ward Grandparent Program.
An Aboriginal Health Education Officer is available for Aboriginal patients.
Specialist social work staff in burns, cardiology, oncology, diabetes, spina bifida, trauma, cystic fibrosis, neurology, disability and chronic disorders, neonatal care and early childhood.
How to make an appointment:
Medical referral to Department of Social Work if the child is a patient of the Hospital. Referrals also accepted from health, education and community welfare agencies for patients of the Hospital.
