Overview

The Parramatta Early Childhood Assessment Team (PECAT) provides a Multidisciplinary, Diagnostic & Assessment service for children under 6 years of age who are not at school. Developmental, intellectual, functional and health assessments are conducted for children who have, or are suspected of having, a global developmental delay or intellectual disability.

Our aims are;

  • To identify factors which may have an impact on a child's development and functioning.
  • To recognise and diagnose disorders such as autism.
  • To document a child's level of development emphasising both areas of strength as well as areas of difficulty.
  • To assist the client, family and other professionals in the planning of interventions and services.
  • To consult to the client/family for health, development or behavioural concerns related to the disability.
  • To provide support over the process of assessment and diagnosis.

Who do we see?

PECAT provides services for individuals who live in the Western area of Sydney, as defined by the Parramatta, Holroyd, Auburn, Blacktown, Hills, Hawkesbury, Penrith and Blue Mountains Local Government Areas.

We see;

  • Children under the age of 6 years, who are not at school, where there are concerns of a global developmental delay or disability.
