The Department of Microbiology provides a diagnostic service in bacteriology, antibiotic susceptibility testing, mycology, parasitology, and Mantoux and Avian skin testing.

A clinical microbiologist is on-call and available at all times to provide advice about the optimal use of the laboratory tests and to assist with the interpretation of results. Consultation and advice on the management of patients with infections is provided in association with the Department of Virology and Department of Immunology and Infectious Diseases.

How to make an appointment:

Appointments are necessary for Mantoux and Avian skin testing. Contact the Mantoux Nurse directly on 9845 2534, or contact either the clinical microbiologist or microbiology registrar via the Hospital switchboard on 9845 0000.
