The Histopathology Department provides tissue diagnostic services with:

• An average 24 hour turn-around-time
• An on-call 24 hour, 7 days per week, emergency Frozen Section service
• Rapid biopsy processing using microwave technology
• Metabolic muscle and liver disease diagnosis
• Electron microscopy service
• Autopsy service, including a peri-natal pathology service
• Research co-operative service to various Hospital departments as well as a long association with CMRI and Sydney University.
