Our scope

The Cochrane Renal Group's scope covers the following major areas of renal disease.

  • Acute renal failure
  • Chronic kidney disease (pre-dialysis)
  • Diabetic kidney disease
  • End-stage renal disease
  • General nephrology
  • Haemodialysis
  • Kidney transplantation
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Urology

Our responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Review Group are to:

  • Identify all trials concerning renal diseases
  • Assess the trials for relevance and quality
  • Assemble and analyse the trial data
  • Prepare structured reports for inclusion in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews

The main role of the editorial base is:

  • to support reviewers through the review process.
  • the Coordinator is responsible for assembling an edited module of systematic reviews prepared by the reviewers as well as information about the group (scope, trial search strategy, members etc). This information is then disseminated through the Cochrane Library on CD-ROM and the Internet. This use of electronic media allows reviews to be regularly updated as new evidence becomes available.
