The Child Protection Unit helps children who are thought to be at risk of harm due to neglect, physical, sexual and emotional abuse, and domestic violence. The Unit is a multidisciplinary service offering crisis intervention, assessment, treatment, education and consultation to children, adolescents and their families.

The Child Protection Unit also provides support, consultation and education to other staff at The Children's Hospital at Westmead, as well as to professionals and departments outside the Hospital, including those in rural areas.

How to contact the Child Protection Unit:

In hours 8:30am - 5:00pm: All referrals, urgent and non-urgent, are made to the social worker on-call contactable through the Unit's administration office, Monday - Friday on 9845 2434.

After hours emergency service: the Unit's on-call social worker is available via the Hospital's switchboard on 9845 0000.
