Service:

The Department of Respiratory Medicine provides a comphrensive, consultative and investigative service for children with respiratory disorders. The Asthma Education Service is provided by the Department of Respiratory Medicine and works collaboratively with other in providing asthma care at The Children's Hospital at Westmead, Sydney West Area Health Service, Western Child Health Network and in the community. The Asthma Education Service was established in 1989 andis recognised for its leadership and expertise in paediatric asthma education.

Mission:

To provide expert clinical service advice,education and managment for children with asthma both in the hospital and community setting. To provide inpatient and outpatient education service for children and their families. To develop, implement and evaluate asthma education and management programs for health professionals and community providers.

After Hour Parent Asthma Education Session:

The Asthma Education Service will be offering  four group asthma education sessions for parents/carers wanting to learn more about asthma in 2011.Your child must have a hospital Medical Record Number and a review by a Pediatrician or Respiratory Specialist within the last 6 months from The Children's Hospital at Westmead.  Bookings are essential and must be received at least 2 weeks prior to commencement date.
