Summary
CEBPGAN (Centre for Evidence Based Paediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition) is a unique evidence-based medicine resource for clinicians involved in paediatric gastroenterology, nutrition and dietetics. To provide the best care for their patients, health professionals must find and assess the quality of an increasingly large amount of new information and apply it to their patients.
CEBPGAN provides access to evidence-based information with its specialised databases, clinican support and courses. The centre is affiliated with both The Children's Hospital at Westmead and the Clinical School (Division of Paediatrics & Child Health), the University of Sydney.
Aims
Educate health professionals on the role of evidence-based medicine (EBM) and the skills required to practise EBM through the running of workshops for paediatricians, gastroenterologists, dietitians and other interested clinicians.
Maintain specialised databases of randomised controlled trials (RCTs), systematic reviews, guidelines and critically appraised topics (CATs) in paediatric gastroenterology and nutrition
Provide assistance to researchers (e.g. searching the literature).
Identify information needs and contentious management issues in clinical paediatric gastroenterology/nutrition.
Contribute summarised evidence to the literature (e.g. Cochrane reviews, clinical practice guidelines, contributions in EBM books and scientific publications)
Collaborative research between CEBPGAN and practising clinicians.
