Established in 1998 as a technical support agency, NSW CAAH's role is to build the confidence and capacity of organisations in responding to health issues.

The service supports improved youth health outcomes by developing / disseminating information and resources, delivering professional education and training, undertaking applied research and contributing to advocacy and policy development.

Research in progress

  1. The GP Strategy aims to improve young people's access to General Practitioners by enhancing the effectiveness of GP youth health training and access initiatives (chief investigator).
  2. 'Beyond Bandaids: Understanding the role of school nurses in NSW' Co-funded by the NSW School Nurses Association (chief investigator).
  3. 'Evaluating a multidisciplinary treatment of adolescents with complex medico-psycho-social presentations', collaboration with Department of Adolescent Medicine (chief investigator).
  4. Cultural diversity 'at work': The Children's Hospital at Westmead, a component of an ARC Linkage Partnership Project with Centre for Cultural Research, University of Western Sydney (contributing member).
  5. Achieving better health outcomes for youth with chronic health conditions: a pan-disciplinary approach in collaboration with the Faculty of Health Sciences at The University of Sydney, seeding grant from Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth (ARACY) (contributing member).
  6. Rural Cohort Study: The Faculties of Health, through the School of Rural Health of the Faculty of Medicine at The University of Sydney (contributing member).
