Clinical Psychologist
The Clinical Psychologist for the Brain Injury Service can assist children/young people and families with a range of issues related to emotional, behavioural and social functioning following a brain injury. Often these issues have a significant impact on everyday functioning. Treatment and support is an important part of the rehabilitation process.
Some of the areas where the Clinical Psychologist has a role are;
- Helping with behavioural problems such as non-compliance, aggression, socially inappropriate behaviour, impulsivity and acting out.
- Assisting with strategies for emotional issues such as anxiety, sadness, depression and anger.
- Relationship issues within families and with friends.
- Post traumatic stress and sleep disturbances.
- Adjustment to change in abilities due to the illness or injury.
