24 hours pH monitoring
24 hours pH monitoring is available as a prognostic indicator for paediatric gastro-oesophageal reflux.

Allied Health is a Clinical Support Program of individual profession-managed allied health departments.
Biochemical Genetics

Burns Unit
The Burns Unit at The Children's Hospital at Westmead is the paediatric component of the newly formed NSW Severe Burn Injury Service and is the referral Unit for all major paediatric burns in New South Wales, also caring for major plastic and general surgical patients.
NSW Centre for the Advancement of Adolescent Health
Established in 1998 as a technical support agency, NSW CAAH's role is to build the confidence and capacity of organisations in responding to health issues.
The service supports improved youth health outcomes by developing / disseminating information and resources, delivering professional education and training, undertaking applied research and contributing to advocacy and policy development.

Gene Therapy Research
The Gene Therapy Research Unit was established in 1995 as a joint initiative of The Children's Hospital at Westmead and the Children's Medical Research Institute in recognition of the immense potential of this exciting new therapeutic paradigm.
Kidney Research
The Centre for Kidney Research aims to bring the most rigorous and up-to-date research methods available to bear on research questions of importance about the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases of the kidneys and urinary tract.
Newborn Screening
The purpose of newborn screening is to test all newborns for early signs of a number of treatable congenital metabolic disorders. This website describes these disorders and the operation of the New South Wales Newborn Screening Programme.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapists treat babies, children and adolescents with developmental, physical, psychological and social difficulties that have caused temporary or permanent disruption to their lives. Occupational Therapists use a family focused approach to assist these children to participate as fully as possible in their home, school and play activities.
Rehabilitation Department
The Rehabilitation Department is one of the largest paediatric rehabilitation units in Australia, caring for over 2300 children and young people in NSW who have a range of disabilities including: Acquired Brain Injury, Cerebral Palsy, Spinal Cord Injury and Disease,Spina Bifida and Limb Deficiency.The Rehabilitation Department assists children and young people to reach their full potential in all areas of development.
Sports Medicine
The Children's Hospital Institute of Sports Medicine provides a comprehensive, specialised approach to children's exercise, fitness, physical activity, exercise science and sports medicine by combining practitioners with clinical and academic experts from their respective disciplines.
Transition Services
The Transition Services aim is to ensure that all young people with a chronic health condition develop the necessary skills and knowledge to manage their own health care needs (to the best of their ability) in the adult system by the time they leave The Children's Hospital.
Tumour Bank
The Tumour Bank of The Children's Hospital at Westmead has been established with the specific intention of encouraging and facilitating research into cancer. The Tumour Bank contains collections of:
- tumour samples and, where possible, matched control blood or tissue samples;
- blood samples from children with malignancies; and
- serial collections of blood, bone marrow and CSF from children with leukaemia.
