About CHISM
What is CHISM?
The Children's Hospital Institute of Sports Medicine (CHISM) was established in 1995 within the framework of The Children's Hospital at Westmead.
CHISM provides a comprehensive, specialised approach to children's exercise, fitness, physical activity, exercise science and sports medicine by combining practitioners with clinical and academic experts from their respective disciplines.

The mission of CHISM is to provide the highest quality services in paediatric sports medicine and exercise science through clinical care, research, policy development, promoting good practice, education and training, consulting and working with key community stakeholders and engaging in advocacy issues on behalf of children and youth.

Goals
Our key goals are:
- Healthier Children and Fair Access - Provide diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of paediatric injuries arising from participation in physical activity and sport.
- Quality Service - Provide training and education programs on physical activity, sport and children for the medical and wider community.
- Value - Conduct research in paediatric exercise science and sports medicine.
- Advocacy - Be the advocate for children's sport, physical activity and sports medicine.
- Partnerships - Promote safe physical activity and sport for children and youth.
