Voice mail messages can be left on both of the above numbers. After hours, for urgent matters, you can contact staff in the Burns Unit (Clubbe Ward) on 02 9845 1114.
You will be given instructions prior to each visit to the BPTC in order to prepare your child for their appointment. These will include:
1. Fasting Times
Fasting means nothing to eat or drink. Your child may need nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to make them feel more comfortable during their bath/dressing or procedure. This decision will be made by the Nurse treating your child. In order to be able to use the gas, your child must NOT have had anything to eat or drink for 4 hours prior to the procedure.
2. Pre-Medications
Your child may require medication to be given up to 1 hour prior to their procedure. You may be instructed to administer this at home prior to your arrival at the BPTC, or you may be instructed to arrive at the BPTC up to 1 hour prior to your child's appointment time. This will mean that you and your child will need to wait before the procedure is started so that the medication can take effect.
3. Appointment Times
The BPTC is a very busy area. Please try to be on time for your appointments. Notify BPTC staff on the above numbers if you are running late or are unable to attend your appointment. Delays will impact upon your child and others, and affect the smooth running of the BPTC.
