Diploma in Child Health
The Diploma in Child Health (DCH) was developed in 1992 in order to meet the demands of the medical community and the resident staff of the Hospital for a course in primary care paediatrics. The course provides resident staff with a focus for learning and formal recognition of a short period of paediatric training. The Diploma is also suitable for doctors in general practice or training in other areas of medicine who wish to improve their paediatric knowledge. The course is open to medical practitioners registered or registrable in Australia who have 6 months experience in clinical paediatric medicine or its equivalent. Community or general practice paediatrics is considered as experience (see enquiry information through the above link). It is also open to GP registrars who are concurrently doing their hospital paediatric term. The experience may be concurrent with the course as a junior medical officer on the staff of The Children's Hospital at Westmead.
DCH has been offered in Hong Kong as a distance education site for the first time in 2005. There are specific criteria for admission to the DCH course in Hong Kong. For further information contact DipCH@chw.edu.au
