| Method of referring |
Urgent cases from GP and paediatricians can be discussed with the neurology fellow on-call
Less urgent cases will be referred to neurology out-patients. The letter will be to the specialist by name, and accepted from specialist paediatricians only. Where GP's wish to refer to neurology services , GP's and parents are advised to seek a referral in the first instance to a local paediatrician who can then refer on to the paediatric neurologist as deemed appropriate. All referrals will be reviewed weekly in an intake meeting and triaged appropriately
Prof Procopis has no current restrictions on referrals.
Dr Gill accepts new referrals at CHW only for children with seizures or suspected seizures as part of the CHW comprehensive epilepsy programme. Each referral is assessed and prioritised depending on clinical urgency. As part of the Orange, NSW, outreach clinic Dr Gill sees patients referred from regional paediatricians only.
