Metabolic Clinic

Location	Level 2 Bandaged Bear Clinics
Appointments	New Referrals: Ph: (02) 9845 3873 through Clinical Nurse Consultant answering service. Follow-up Appointments: For patients previously seen at the clinic, follow up appointments should be made through the outpatients dept (02) 9845 2525.

Method of referring	All referrals to be made out to Drs Christodoulou, Ellaway and Bhattacharya. (Please include all Doctors names) Copy to Clinical Nurse Consultant. Referrals generally only accepted from paediatricians.
Clinic function	Management of children with genetic metabolic disorders. Dietetic advice and management.
Urgent cases	Through Emergency Dept or, for country emergencies, contact metabolic physician-on-call via the Hospital switchboard, ph: (02) 9845 0000.

Phenylketonuria (PKU) Clinic

Location	Level 2 Bandaged Bear Clinics
Appointments	Ph: (02) 9845 2057 through Clinical Nurse Consultant answering service for new referrals. For patients previously seen at the clinic, follow up appointments should be made through the outpatients dept (9845 2525)

Method of referring	Referring letter to the doctor by name. Referrals generally only accepted from paediatricians.
Clinic function	Ongoing management of PKU through dietary and medical treatment.

Rett Syndrome Clinic

Location	Level 2 Medical and Surgical Outpatients and Bandaged Bear Clinics
Appointments	Ph: (02) 9845 3273 (Zoe Horton - Genetic counsellor)
Consultants	Dr Carolyn Ellaway Prof. John Christodoulou
Clinic days	Management - last Friday of the month New patient assessment - 2nd Friday of the month
Method of referring	Referring letter to Dr C Ellaway or Prof. J Christodoulou by name from the paediatrician
Clinic function	Multidisciplinary management clinic - attended by the geneticist, dentist, dietician, occupational therapists, music therapist, physiotherapist and speech pathologist. There is a neurologist and orthotist on call for consultations. Designed to provide comprehensive assessment of patients with Rett Syndrome and provide a resource for therapists caring for these children in the community. New patient clinic - assessment and confirmation of diagnosis of Rett Syndrome
