Child Development Unit Clinics

Location Children's Assessment Centre, Level 3 Outpatient Building
Appointments Ph: (02) 9845 2395 (Intake Officer). All appointments are given only after consideration of intake details, appropriateness and priority.
Consultants Dr Paul Hutchins (full time), Dr Natalie Silove.
Clinic days Monday to Friday am and pm (not Thursday pm) - mainly morning appointments for assessment
Method of referring
  1. Referral letter to consultant by name from GP or other specialist after consultant allocated for intake.
  2. Clear statement of goals of assessment and referral to be provided.
  3. Other agencies eg. School Counsellor, Speech Pathologist discuss with appropriate intake staff. All accepted cases must obtain medical referral.
  4. Primary and secondary services should be previously utilised and information /reports provided.
  5. Statewide tertiary referrals are prioritised.
Functions of the clinic Comprehensive multidisciplinary approach to complex developmental and behavioural problems. Urgent cases contact Intake Officer or one of the Consultants.
Special Interests Communication disorders e.g. severe language disorder, autism, preschool developmental problems for more specialist opinion, neurodevelopmental disorder associated with medical conditions requiring neuropsychological assessment, some learning disabilities specifically for Registrar training after consulting with intake officer.
