Creative Well Galleria Art
Fairies, dragons and butterflies were some of the most popular images added to a large group artwork in January 2010. Adolescent inpatients led the project, their aim was to involve other patients and their families visiting the hospital. The activity was particularly aimed at younger children to encourage cross- generational interaction. The result was a wide range of ages participating, many of the passing staff included. The artists in the Department of Adolescent Medicine intend on making this a regular school holiday activity. Inpatients will devise similar art projects as part of the in Adolescent Groupwork Program.
These activities are sparked by the relaunch of "Creative Well", an extension of the Youth Arts Program in Adolescent Medicine that focuses on Cultural Community Development. The program strives to use creative participation to promote positive connections within the hospital and its wider community.
