Thanks to our Volunteers
This Friday 19th February, 2010 at 10.30am The Children's Hospital at Westmead will be hosting a special morning tea to honour its volunteers in recognition of NSW Health Volunteers Appreciation Day.
Gilly Paxton, Director of Community Relations & Marketing said "The Hospital's volunteers make a valuable contribution not only to patients and their families, but also to staff members. Our volunteers work tirelessly and contribute greatly to the work of the Hospital."
"They perform a variety of tasks including tour guides, working on the wards and running the Sibling Child Minding Centre. They help run our in-house radio station Radio Bed Rock and the Children's Library. We also have a dedicated team of ward grandparents who stay with a patient during their stay in Hospital if the family can't always be with their child.
A number of the volunteers from the Delta Society of Australia who visit the Hospital weekly with their wonderful dogs will join us to add a special touch to the celebrations.
Last year our volunteers raised $3450,000 through the sales of goods at the Volunteer Shop. We continue to be grateful for their dedication and loyalty to The Hospital", said Gilly Paxton.
"Our volunteers generously give of their time to give to us and they certainly give the Hospital that special touch.
We are proud to celebrate Volunteers Appreciation Day and let our volunteers know how much they mean to us."
