Kids Cancer Support funds song writing technology for kids
Kids Cancer Support have donated a laptop computer to the Hospital's Music Therapy Department to provide much-needed technology for portable song writing. This donation means that sick children are given a much-needed outlet for emotional and creative release during their Hospital stay. Song writing as a therapeutic intervention has been employed extensively when working with children and teenagers to accommodate and support their emotional journeys during their treatment. This new portable song writing technology will enable better quality in the live recording arena and to develop a new adolescent customised relaxation program based on individual tastes. Kids Cancer Support's mission is to make the treatment journey easier for the families of sick children and give their sick kids the best chance of recovery. ‘Several directors come from a teaching or music background and have a high regard for the Music Therapy Department of The Children's Hospital at Westmead," said Kids Cancer Support Director, Phil McKenzie
