Lunch with Australian of the Year and help sick kids
A special luncheon will be held at the ANA Harbour Grand Hotel, The Rocks, featuring guest speaker Chief of Army, Lieutenant General Peter J. Cosgrove AC MC to benefit The Children's Hospital at Westmead. This event will be held on Friday 26 October, 2001 from 12 noon in the Grand Ballroom.
Lieutenant General Peter J. Cosgrove AC MC was awarded the Australian of the Year award in 2001 for his work for the Australian Army, in particular during his post as Commander INTERFET based in East Timor. He has now been appointed as Chief of the Australian Army following a career in the armed forces which dates back to 1965. He is fast becoming one of the most sought after speakers in Australia and is sure to offer some interesting insights into the current world situation.
The luncheon is being organised by The Patrons' Committee and the RAHC Graduate Nurses Auxiliary. The Patrons' Committee was formed in 1989 to promote public awareness of the work of The Children's Hospital at Westmead and to raise much-needed funds for the facility. The Graduate Nurses Auxiliary was formed an 1962 for graduate nurses to keep in touch with each other and to also raise funds for The Children's Hospital at Westmead.
The Children's Hospital at Westmead is the premier children's hospital in Australia and is renowned internationally as one of the leading institutions in child health and research. Each year we treat over 500,000 outpatients and over 26,000 inpatients. We have one of the busiest emergency departments in the state with over 39,500 presenting in the past year.
