There is exposure to all of the paediatric subspecialties. They will be required to provide anaesthesia and related patient services, including perioperative patient assessment and pain management at various locations within the Hospital, as allocated by the Department Head; to participate as required in the out of hours on call roster for anaesthesia (especially for liver transplantation); rotate to PICU as rostered; undertake burns sedation and anaesthesia and help with the development of the management strategy for burns care.

Paediatric Resident

The Resident is a valued member of the clinical team. In matters relating directly to patient care, the Resident is directly responsible to and supervised by the teams Registrar and Fellow(s), as appropriate, and is responsible to the consultant in charge of the patients care. He/She is expected to follow the guidance of the senior members of the team in regard to clinical management of patients, communication and professional conduct.
The primary function of the role is provision of care for patients and families at a level of skill and autonomy consistent with resident training in Paediatrics. This includes prompt assessment of children admitted under the team, rational use of investigations, ongoing management of care, anticipation and monitoring of progress and planning of timely discharge and appropriate follow up.
These positions are attached to networks (i.e. Northern, Eastern and Western Paediatric Physician Training Networks) each of which is made up of a number of medical institutions. These positions will involve training in a rage of terms across the network and across a range of different settings. The aims of the networked training program are to ensure that the delivery of paediatric training in NSW is of the highest quality, sustainable, flexible, and transparent and in accordance with RACP training requirements and clinical service needs.

The Zoledronic Acid in Perthes Disease (ZAP) co-ordinator is a senior member of Clinical Musculoskeletal Research, who is responsible for the implementation and co-ordination of the ZAP study.
The ZAP study is a multi-centre NHMRC funded project assessing the effect of Zoledronic Acid on hip shape in children and adolescents with Perthes disease. In conjunction with senior members of Clinical Musculoskeletal Research, the ZAP co-ordinator is responsible for the implementation of the study at CHW and nationally in association with investigators at collaborative sites and the direct patient aspects of the project at CHW, which includes recruitment, investigation, treatment and monitoring of treatment.
Clinical Musculoskeletal Research brings together researchers from Bone and Mineral Medicine, Orthopaedic Surgery, Endocrinology, Academic Genetics and Physiotherapy to work towards better outcomes for children with a wide range of musculoskeletal disorders.
Criteria: Registered Nurse (List A) with current registration to practice from NSW Nurses Registration Board. At lease 6 years nursing experience with a minimum of 4 years in paediatric research. Demonstrated experience in multicenter clinical drug trials. Knowledge of and compliance with appropriate clinical trial research guidelines.
