The position of paediatric Dental Fellow will provide quality oral health care to both in-patients and out-patients, attend clinics and departmental meetings and inservice training as determined by the Head of the Dental services Department. With supervisory responsibility for the postgraduate dental students who come through the department and also the departments Dental Assistants, the Paediatric Dental Fellow will also be responsible for co-ordinating approximately 6 clinics per week as well as the theatre and emergency lists. This position is for a Specialist Social Worker who will be attached to one of the four clinical teams within the Department of Psychological Medicine. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing specialist social work and family therapy services to children, adolescents and their families who are inpatients or outpatients at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. This includes psycho-social assessments, various psychosocial interventions, specialist family therapy interventions, treatment planning and discharge planning. The position incorporates consultation-liaison services to paediatric inpatients and to other members of the multi-disciplinary team as directed by medical team leader. It also involves consultation and the provision of clinical supervision and education in relation to family therapy and general paediatric mental health issues via videoconferencing to the Child & Adolescent Psychological Telemedicine Outreach Service (CAPTOS).

Criteria: Eligibility for membership of AASW. At least 3 years postgraduate experience in social work. Demonstrated ability to provide child, adolescent and family assessments and interventions. Extensive experience in the provision of acute and ongoing clinical services to children, young people and their families with mental health problems.
