Goodwill Ambassadors

The Children's Hospital at Westmead has appointed a number of high profile Australians as Goodwill Ambassadors.

Our wonderful Goodwill Ambassadors support us in so many ways. We are delighted to have them helping us. They attend functions which raise money for the Hospital like balls and dinners, and speak at major Hospital events - and they visit our patients too.

Tony Popovic

Tony Popovic

Tony Popovic is the Captain of Sydney FC and has had a very successful career having appeared in 54 games for the Socceroos. Tony was a member of the 2006 World Cup Squad and in his sporting career he has scored eight goals for his country.

Tony is the proud father of two boys and was inspired to become a Goodwill Ambassador when he visited the Hospital with Sydney FC in 2007.

Tony is the most recent Goodwill Ambassador and made his debut on camera alongside fellow Goodwill Ambassador Steve Jacobs during the Bandaged Bear Day Appeal in March 2008.

Monica Trapaga

Monica Trapaga

Monica Trapaga is an acclaimed Jazz singer, recording artist, television presenter, dramatic actor and children's entertainer.

Monica is a long standing supporter of the Hospital and has been a Goodwill Ambassador since 2000. Monica has been involved with the Hospital for about 15 years performing and visiting our patients as well as assisting us with our fundraising events.

Steve Roach

Steve Roach

Steve Roach, better known as "Blocker" is an NRL legend and has been involved with the sport for many years. First as a player for the Balmain Tigers for 11 years before joining the very successful Footy Show. Steve left the Footy Show in 1999 and is currently calling the football on Radio 2UE.

Steve has been associated with the Hospital since our days at Camperdown. He has visited the children on many occasions and is very supportive of our fundraising work.

Louise Sauvage

Louise Sauvage

Louise was a full-time professional athlete and undisputed number one female road and track racer in the world. She retired from professional sport in 2005. She has won gold medals in the 1992 & 1996 Paralympic Games and is the only Paralympian to have won a gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games.

Louise regularly supports us at our fundraising events and also loves visiting our patients.

Melissa Doyle

Melissa Doyle

Melissa is the co-host of number one rating TV breakfast program Sunrise on Channel 7. She is the mother of two children Nicholas and Talia.

Melissa joined us in 2005 as a Goodwill Ambassador. She has been a judge at our "Popstars" stage at the Teddy Bear's Picnic, attended fundraising dinners and supported us in many other ways.

Jessica Rowe

Jessica Rowe

Jessica Rowe has worked in television for many years.

Her special interest is in Mental Health. She is married to Peter Overton, presenter on 60 Minutes, whose father Prof John Overton worked for the Hospital for 30 years.

Jessica has supported the hospital at launches and several fundraising events.

Jessica and Peter are now the proud parents of their beautiful baby girl Allegra.

Jane Flemming

Jane Flemming

Golden girl Jane Flemming is one of Australia's most loved sporting legends. During her career the dual Olympian won two Commonwealth Games Gold Medals and countless national titles. Jane retired from athletics in 1998 to concentrate on her media and commercial commitments. She has worked for Channel 7, 9 and 10 in Olympic, Commonwealth and World Championship commentary roles as well as appearing on numerous programs as a special guest. Jane joined us in late 2005 and has supported us at a number of fundraising events.

Steve Jacobs

Steve Jacobs

Steve is the weatherman on Channel 9's Today Show. He joined us as GWA in October 2005. He has assisted us with a number of weather crosses since joining the Today Show in 2005. During his weather crosses here at CHW for the Picnic he met one of our patients - Shanti Woodend - and fell in love. He has arranged for Shanti to meet Charli from Hi-5 and travel to Phillip Island for the Getaway program. Whilst he lives in Melbourne we have no doubt he will be a wonderful Ambassador.

Mark Geyer

Mark Geyer

Mark was a professional NRL football player and had a high profile during his playing days. Mark only joined us a little while ago a little while ago and is keen to support us in any way he can.

Graded with the Penrith Panthers in 1985, headlines and controversy seemed to go hand in hand with one of the true characters in rugby league. After his spectacular confrontation with the King "Wally Lewis" during the second game of the 1991 Origin series, the legend of Rugby Leagues Rebel, MG, began.
